What do you do when you are powerless? What if you feel you know whats best, yet be told you are wrong? Well I feel I know whats best for Emma. The hospital is disagreeing. (Methodist in Brooklyn). I have made many recommendations as to the proper care for my 2 neonates. All of which have only fallen on deaf ears. At what point do you put your foot down and enforce your parental instinct? How do you deal with making the wrong choice is that becomes the case? When you hold a tiny,fragile little life in your hand all decisions become life or death. Back to the reason for this post. Emma is now "sick" again. We are being told she is desating often, which is a sign of infection. She is back on CPAP to breath. She has been on a 20 day course of antibiotics which concluded yesterday. Also the caffeine which was being administered to remind her to breath was discontinued at the same time. Now, what changed from yesterday to today? 2 things correct? Antibiotics and caffeine. Well the hospital seems to think that its and infection again and has no relation to the discontinuance of the caffeine. So they now have started a new course of antibiotics by the name of Vancomycin, which happens to be a extremely toxic drug used to treat only the most serious of infections, it also comes with a slew of side effects. My advice? Give the caffeine back. Not administer more toxins. So now this blog will also serve as my record. To voice my opinion. Express my concern. All with a undisputed time stamp of occurrence. May God be with any one's decision that leads to more serious consequences to my children....to be continued...
