That you can use your lap for rocking one baby to sleep while holding the other in your arms... that sleep is a privilege... that warming a bottle seems like it takes a very long time when one or both babies are crying... that you can find the similarities in their faces and yet they're very much their own unique people... that the smallest nuance of change is fascinating... that family is the most important thing in the world...that figuring out car seats and double strollers is not as easy as it looks, changing diapers, making formula, distinguishing between who's crying and why they're crying takes time... that you can acclimate to just about anything - all of a sudden there are two more people in the world, in your home, in your family...
Lucian is so big now, 9 lbs 10 oz. He holds his chest and head up and looks all around. His cry has gotten much stronger since he's been home. He loves the swing and being held, sometimes Aunt Gina has to "dance" with him because nothing else will soothe him. He puts his fingers in his mouth. He follows your fingers, notices shadows and looks up at the mobile above the swing with curiousity.
Emma-Sky gets bigger and stronger each day. She has the sweetest cry and makes this pouty face that could break hearts. She loves her bouncer and lets you know right away when the vibrating stops. She may be little but she does not go unheard, when she wants to eat, she wants to eat. She gets wide eyed and looks all around and she is content to be awake and make soft noises. She loves her pacifier too.
They both make unique sounds when they're eating, a sort of sweet hum. They can hold their own body weight on your thigh as you hold their hands until they get tired.
At the moment, I am tired - My sister and cousin Victoria and I went to Barnes and Noble and the mall today. We saw other families with twins and triplets. It was a nice day but exhausting, especially taking the twins in and out of the car multiple times as well as the carriage, which is really heavy! Vicki has been a tremendous help! We're so happy to spend time with her... soon all the girls will have their licenses (a little scary! lol) but I hope then we can see each other that much more.
Our son and daughter are finally sound asleep as well their Daddy. :) He's been sick and his cough kept him up until very late last night. I'm going to join my family for a nap... until someone cries for a bottle. :)

Gina and Vicky, what a tag team. It's good to have helping hands.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to the girls on their road tests.
